It takes someone with very special qualities to be a Reef Divers staff member. We often review more than 100 job applications before finding one great match. We look for individuals who are passionate about taking care of our guests and the marine environment, and are focused on ensuring diver safety. They must be able to make it a great day for every diver in their care.
These Reef Divers Pros Will Care for You on Your Next Visit to Cobalt Coast Resort:
Chris from Dunedin, New Zealand, started diving in 2008 because snorkeling just wasn’t cutting it. Even after hundreds of dives, he still gets excited seeing new marine life underwater and does underwater photography when he’s not working. Chris is also our Dive Coordinator.
Bernie from Christchurch, New Zealand, began diving in 2009 – he loved the tasty New Zealand crayfish and wanted to catch some. What does he love most about diving? The peace and serenity of being underwater.
Gen from Dunedin, New Zealand, did her first dive in 2016, because she studied and had a passion for aquaculture and ecology. She followed friends Chris and Oli here to Cobalt Coast and still doesn’t know why she didn’t start diving sooner because she loves it.
Oli from Dunedin, New Zealand, became enamored with the sea and marine animals when she was a lifeguard at a local beach and got certified to dive in 2014. She loves seeing guests’ reactions when they first see our magnificent underwater world and are able to become part of it.
Rowan from Amersham, England, became a certified diver in 2005 to pursue his fascination with marine ecosystems and fish identification and came to Grand Cayman because he wanted to live in a tropical paradise. He enjoys finding marine life to show guests – especially macro life for photographers.
Curtis is from East St. Paul, Manitoba, Canada. His dad got him involved in diving in 2007, because he loved it and thought it was something fun they could do together. Curtis especially loves underwater photography and muck diving, which involves exploring the sediment lying on the bottom where he can find manmade and natural debris plus great marine life subjects for macro photography.
Lee from Yorkshire, England, began his diver training in Egypt in 2008. He had watched the underwater world on TV and wanted to explore it in real life. Lee’s favorite things about diving are the peace and quiet of the underwater world. And he loves being an observer in the interactions among marine life.
Mitch is from Queenstown, New Zealand. According to those in the know, he’s a true “water baby” who’s always loved the sea. Mitch started diving in 2015 and now is genuinely happy to be living in the warm, sunny Caribbean. This Kiwi is our resident musician who loves entertaining guests on the boat, underwater, and on Friday night BBQs at the resort.
Lucy from Marlow, England, became a certified diver in 2013 while traveling around southeast Asia and Australia. She loves meeting all kinds of new people and making new places feel like home. Besides diving, Lucy also enjoys sailing, yoga, and cooking. Want to learn about Snubfin Dolphins? Ask Lucy – our resident expert.
